This year marked the 38th running of the Bird Rock Memorial Surf Classic and things were changed up a little, making the weekend less about competition, and more about getting back to basics of just going surfing.
Starting Friday night at the memorial on Town Beach headland, friends and family gathered to remember and honor those who we have lost from the surfing community in the Hastings. It’s a heart filled event, with some people traveling quite some distance to be involved, share some stories, and reconnect with friends old and new.
This was followed by a weekend camping trip to Point Plomer. Saturday saw great conditions and perfect weather for the relaxed competition format followed up with a few drinks around the fire, and some pretty good food cooked up by the BBQ crew!!
A huge Thank you to all organizers of this amazing gathering, we are honored to be a sponsor, and truly Blessed to be apart this loving community.
